The only Lunar Eclipse of 2010 will be tonight in North America. The event should happen in te early morning hours of December 21st and will last approximately 3.5 hours. this should provide plenty of opportunity for some very cool photography. If you plan on photographing the eclipse, you’ll want to use a tripod and a long lens. Usually 300mm or better is a good choice for taking photos of the moon. The moon is very bright too so setting your camera to spot metering if you have that ability would probably be a good idea.
According to NASA, the Eclipse should begin around 1:30AM Eastern Standard Time and end around 5:00 AM. The total eclipse should last for about an hour covering the time between 2:40AM to 3:50AM. I fyou need more information you can check out the info at NASA at this link
